The Spain Park High School softball team defeated Prattville 5-3 in its first game of the 2011 season Feb. 21.

The Jaguars (1-0) scored three runs in the fourth inning, one run in the fifth inning and one run in the sixth inning in the win.

Caroline Holmes drove in Spain Park’s first run with an RBI double in the fourth inning. Katherine Mei followed with a two-run double in the inning to give the Jaguars a 3-0 lead.

Keri Krake drove in a run with an RBI single in the fifth inning and April Scott capped the scoring with an RBI single in the sixth inning.

Channing Haynes picked up the win on the mound after giving up two runs, including one earned run, on four hits with four strikeouts and a walk in 6 2/3 innings.

Holmes finished 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI. Mei went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.
