Mary Teal Aycock, age 92, died Sept. 7, 2012. Visitation was held from 2-3 p.m., Sept. 9 at Columbiana United Methodist Church with the funeral following at 3 p.m. Burial was at Pinelawn Gardens. Bolton Funeral Home of Columbiana directed.
She was a member of the Inglenook United Methodist Church where she taught the College & Career Sunday School Class and was actively involved with the United Methodist Women. In Birmingham, she was a charter member of the Marie Barton Study Club. In 1973, she moved to Shelby and became a member of Columbiana United Methodist Church where she taught the Open Door Sunday School Class for 30 years. She was also a member of the Columbiana Culture Club.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Polly Teal; sister, Clariece Smith; and son-in-law, Roger C. Gilmore. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Clyde C. Aycock of Shelby; daughter, Mary Aycock Gilmore of Alabaster; brothers, James Teal (Ann) of Kimberly and J.D. Teal (Estelle) of Birmingham; and many nieces and nephews. The family thanks all those with Comfort Care Hospice who assisted Mother. They especially wish to thank her primary caregiver, Callie Davis, for her loving care of Mother during this time. Pallbearers were Terry Aycock, Tom Aycock, Charles Hartsell, John Hartsell, Lee Hartsell and Jerry Marcum. Friends may send flowers, or make a contribution to Columbiana First United Methodist Choir and Organ Fund.
