The Vincent High School girls’ basketball team ended its season with a 59-35 loss on the road at Ranburne High School in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 2A sub-region contest Feb. 17.
Kiara Cohill led the Yellow Jackets (10-19) with 11 points in the loss.
Brooklyn Jones added seven points in the defeat.
Vincent coach Stephanie Ledlow praised her team for reaching the playoffs despite a ton of adversity during the 2010-2011 season. The Yellow Jackets began the season with only eight players, including only four players with varsity experience, and finished a couple of games early in the year with only four players on the court due to foul trouble.
“I’m proud of the girls for making it this far,” Ledlow said. “We made it to the playoffs with a lot of seventh and eighth graders on the team.”
Ledlow said Jones, a sophomore guard, provided great leadership for the Yellow Jackets.
“Brooklyn gave 110 percent on both offense and defense,” Ledlow said.
