Three Pelham High School wrestlers advanced to the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A state tournament following a section meet Feb. 12 at Tuscaloosa County High School in Northport.

Senior Logan Huey, sophomore Cody Wehunt and senior Tyler Ray will each wrestle in the Class 6A state tournament Feb. 17-19 at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville.

Huey, who will enter the state tournament with a 26-8 record in individual matches, placed third in the 125-pound weight division at the section meet.

After receiving a bye in the championship quarterfinals at the section meet, Huey dropped a 4-0 decision to Josh Brown of Vestavia Hills in the semifinals. Huey responded with an 8-1 decision over Harrison Turner of Tuscaloosa County in the consolation semifinals and earned a 4-2 decision over DeMario Haynes in the third-place match.

Wehunt, who will enter the state tournament with a 31-5 record in individual matches, finished runner-up in the 140-pound weight division at the section meet.

Wehunt pinned Brandon Stanley of Spain Park in 56 seconds in the championship quarterfinals and earned an 8-2 decision over Cody Albarado of Thompson in the semifinals. Wehunt dropped a 7-2 decision to Jackson Poe of Hoover in the 140-pound championship match.

Ray, who will enter the state tournament with a 23-13 record in individual matches, finished runner-up in the heavyweight division at the section meet.

Ray pinned Martin Canales of Spain Park in 1:18 in the championship quarterfinals and pinned Eddie Foster of Hoover in 4:09 in the semifinals. Ray was pinned by David Simmons of Vestavia Hills in 4:37 in the heavyweight championship match.

The Panthers finished sixth in team standings at the section meet with 56 points. Complete individual results are below.
