INDIAN SPRINGS — In Indian Springs’ only contested race during this election, Kathryn Harrington defeated Logan Cook by a wide margin to take over Brenda Bell-Guercio’s Place 2 seat on the Town Council.

Bell-Guercio will take over the mayoral seat after incumbent Steve Zerkis decided not to run for a third term.

Harrington came away with 84.1 percent of the vote, or 196 votes to Cook’s 37.

“I view this election as a validation of all the hard work our mayor and council have done for the last four years,” Harrington said. “Because I have supported them and I’ve made it well-known to our constituents that I was 100 percent behind the decisions that our mayor and council have made for the last four years.”

Cook said he believes Harrington will excel in her role on the council.

“We’re going to be well-represented. She’s going to do a great job,” he said.

Town Council Place 1 incumbent Herb Robins, Place 3 incumbent Brian Stauss and Place 4 incumbent Jack Mendel were all unopposed in their re-election bids.

Barton J. Trammell was also unopposed in his quest for Place 5 on the Town Council. He takes over for Stewart Dudley, who left his Place 5 seat to run for mayor but became ineligible for the mayoral race after he failed to submit required paperwork.
