CHELSEA – Chelsea’s coffee scene will have a makeover when Chelsea Coffee House opens in the former Ekklesia Coffee House location Sept. 1.

Jeff and Rhonda Gross, who have lived in Chelsea for more than five years, are planning to reopen the coffee shop under the new name.

“We actually have been thinking about it a couple of years. It came available, and we decided to do it,” Jeff Gross said.

Gross, who has been in the printing business for 28 years, said he and his wife purchased Ekklesia’s equipment, but not the name.

Chelsea Mayor Earl Niven said the Grosses will provide top-notch service to the Chelsea community.

“I’m just glad that it was picked up by a local family that loves the community,” Niven said. “They are fine, Christian people and will certainly provide the service that our community has grown accustomed to having with the Ekklesia Coffee Shop.”

The coffee house’s grand opening will be at 6 a.m. Sept. 1. The shop will offer breakfast and pastry items, smoothies, frozen drinks and cappuccinos, as well as sandwiches at lunch.

“I think it’s good for the community. It needs a place to go to meet people,” Gross said. “I just think it’s a real good thing to have, and I didn’t want to see it go away.”

Chelsea Coffee House is located at 109 Foothills Parkway, Suite 110. For more information about Chelsea Coffee House, visit Facebook.com/ChelseaCoffeeHouse.
