The Evangel Christian School volleyball team swept a pair of matches against Tuscaloosa Christian in the Cotton Classic tournament Aug. 17-18.

The Lightning (7-1) defeated Tuscaloosa Christian 26-24, 25-8 on Aug. 17.

Elizabeth Ragland led Evangel Christian with seven kills in the victory. Ragland also posted five digs and five assists in the win.

Kierson McGriff added four kills, six assists and four digs. Anna Byers finished with two kills, two blocks and three digs.

Amelia Megginson and Caroline Joiner contributed one kill each. Kate Ragland finished with two service aces and five digs. Erin Morris contributed four digs and one assist.

Evangel Christian topped Tuscaloosa Christian 25-13, 25-12 on Aug. 18.

McGriff, Elizabeth Ragland and Byers led the Lightning with five kills each in the victory.

McGriff also contributed a team-high six service aces, nine digs and 10 assists in the win. Elizabeth Ragland added seven assists and two digs. Byers also posted two digs.

Joiner contributed three kills. Bethany Letson registered two kills. Megginson finished with one kill.

Erin Morris added four digs in the victory.
