Calera wrestlers split matches at dual meet

The Calera High School wrestling team split matches against Chilton County and McAdory at a dual meet Jan. 27.
The Eagles edged Chilton County 36-33 at the dual meet. Six Calera wrestlers won their individual matches against Chilton County.
Jarrett Seiger of Calera pinned Chilton County’s Caleb Smith in one minute in the 119-pound match. The Eagles’ Coby Mize pinned Dylan Moseley of Chilton County in one minute in the 152-pound match.
Calera’s Christian McDonald won the 112-pound match by forfeit. Keenan Agee of Calera won the 130-pound match by forfeit.
Jake Thomas of Calera won the 135-pound match by forfeit. The Eagles’ Shawn O’Neill won the 140-pound match by forfeit.
Calera fell to McAdory 54-30 in the dual meet. Five Eagles won their individual matches against McAdory.
Seiger pinned Travis Norris of McAdory in 1:20 in the 119-pound match. Mize pinned McAdory’s Aaron Sizemore in 1:10 in the 152-pound match.
Kevin Murry of Calera pinned McAdory’s Brandon Griffin in 1:57 in the 215-pound match. Brian McDonald of Calera won the 103-pound match by forfeit.
The Eagles’ Austin Dowdy won the 125-pound match by forfeit.
