The city of Montevallo is hosting an information session to business owners, residents and anyone else interested in learning about how the city’s recycling center works on July 17 at 9 a.m.

“We need to educate the public about what the center does,” said city clerk Herman Lehman. “We’ll show what’s going right and wrong, how it operates, what materials are accepted and how to properly sort.”

Lehman said while operations at the center are generally going well, they’ve had problems with people putting trash in the recycling bins.

“We’ve got people who will come and put a couch in the mixed metals bin,” Lehman said. “We have a dumpster out there for that stuff.”
