The Montevallo High School girls’ basketball team defeated Hale County 65-38 in a Class 3A, Area 7 contest Jan. 20.

Amber Cardwell led the Bulldogs (8-7 overall, 2-3 in Class 3A, Area 7) with 28 points. Cardwell also grabbed a team-high 17 rebounds to finish with a double-double.

Mallory Anderson and Savannah Upton added nine points each. Anderson also grabbed 11 rebounds.

Kayla Cunningham chipped in eight points in the victory.

BOYS

The Montevallo High School boys’ basketball team fell to Hale County 67-47 in a Class 3A, Area 7 contest Jan. 20.

Garrius Chappell led the Bulldogs (4-12 overall, 0-4 in Class 3A, Area 7) with 13 points.

Rashard Jones added 12 points in the defeat.
