INVERNESS — After conducting a search warrant July 24, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office seized 126.5 grams of heroin in an Inverness apartment and arrested two for heroin trafficking.

A month-long investigation into heroin possession in Jefferson County led investigators to an apartment in the 2100 block of Springfield Loop West in Shelby County. After enlisting the aid of the North Shelby County Drug Task Force, the investigators obtained a search warrant for the apartment, according to a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office press release.

While searching the apartment, officers discovered heroin and hydrocodone.

According to the release, Tishia Bryant, 23, was arrested at the scene for unlawful possession of a controlled substance and heroin trafficking. Later, 25-year-old Michael Magail Bonner, who was not present at the scene, was arrested for unlawful possession of a controlled substance and heroin trafficking.

Bryant was held at the Shelby County Jail on $115,000 bond, while Bonner was held at the Shelby County Jail on $101,000 bond.

Bryant was released July 25 after posting bond; Bonner remains in the Shelby County Jail, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office website.

The heroin seized has a street value of $38,000. Alabama law mandates a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole for a person convicted of possessing 56 grams or more of heroin.
