The town of Vincent recently made an agreement with Regional Paramedical Service to provide ambulance services for citizens.

Vincent Mayor Ray McAllister said town officials came to an agreement with RPS Oct. 23 to begin ambulance services Nov. 1.

For years, the town of Harpersville has provided ambulance services for Vincent citizens. McAlister said Harpersville recently cut back their ambulance services, making it necessary for Vincent to contract with a private service.

“When they cut back, we felt like we had to provide our people with ambulance service, and we felt RPS was going to be able to give our people the best service,” McAlister said.

Harpersville will serve Vincent through Oct. 31, and RPS will take over the next day, Nov. 1. Like the Harpersville ambulance services, RPS will charge patients or their insurance for ambulance services.

McAlister said citizens of Vincent don’t have to do anything different to receive emergency care.

“The biggest thing we want people to know is to continue to call 911 for all emergency medical services, and they will automatically dispatch RPS,” McAlister said.
