A Montevallo man was charged last week with four drug-related offenses, including trafficking cocaine.

Erwin Blaine Dubose, 49, was booked into the Shelby County jail Monday, Jan. 11, following a search warrant executed earlier that day by the Shelby County Drug Task Force.

The warrant was executed at Dubose’s residence on the 1000 block of Highway 17 in Montevallo.

The most serious of the four charges is trafficking cocaine of more than 28 grams, which has a street value of about $2,800, according to Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Chris George, commander of the Shelby County Drug Task Force.

Other charges included illegal possession of prescription drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession/reception of a controlled substance – morphine, in this case.

Total bond was set at $269,000, including $250,000 alone for the trafficking charge.

“It is unfortunate that we continue to see people deal drugs of all types in our community,” George said. “Mr. Dubose has chosen a path that not only will affect his future but has likely affected the lives of many others that he has sold narcotics to. We must remain vigilant in our fight to stop the illegal drug trade in our society.”

The Task Force is comprised of officers from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Alabaster, Pelham, Harpersville, Helena police departments, the Alabama Air National Guard and the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office.
