Learn weather preparedness from the pros July 12

COLUMBIANA – Residents can learn to prepare for and respond to inclement weather during the South Shelby Weather and Safety Expo July 12.
The expo will be held from 1-8 p.m. at the Shelby County Exhibition Center in Columbiana. Featured speakers, who will begin speaking at 4 p.m., include J.P. Dice with Fox 6, Mark Prater with CBS 42, Leland Whaley with WAPI, Sheriff Chris Curry, Columbiana Mayor Allan Lowe, Alabama Power’s Cathy Laminack, Herbert Ortise with American Red Cross, Steve Turner with Alabama Saf-T-Net and Marvin Copes with the Yellow Dot ID Program.
The first 100 kids get a free protective helmet, and attendees can have weather radios programmed at the expo.
The free expo is sponsored by ServPro of Birmingham, City of Columbiana, Rux Cater Insurance Agency, South Shelby Chamber of Commerce, Johnny Ray’s and Shelby County Extension.
