High school basketball roundup: Pelham girls squeak by Chelsea

The Pelham High School girls’ basketball team edged Chelsea 44-40 in high school basketball action Jan. 8.
Erin Whitman led the Panthers (6-7) with 18 points.
Sydney Days, who hit two free throws with less than five seconds remaining to seal the victory, added 11 points.
Amanda Mock and Sarah Holliday led Chelsea (6-12) with 10 points each.
Indian Springs tops B.B. Comer in area contest
The Indian Springs School girls’ basketball team edged B.B. Comer 42-40 in a Class 3A, Area 8 contest Jan. 8.
Andrea Mayo led Indian Springs (5-8 overall, 3-1 in Class 3A, Area 8 ) with a game-high 30 points.
Elise Kahn added 10 points in the victory.

Pelham defeats Chelsea
The Pelham High School basketball team defeated Chelsea 63-49 in high school basketball action Jan. 8.
Tony Williams led the Panthers (8-8) with 22 points.
Tanner Rice added 13 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
Jake Ganus led Chelsea (9-9) with 18 points.
D.J. Washington chipped in 10 points.
Indian Springs tops B.B. Comer in area game
The Indian Springs School boys’ basketball team defeated 46-38 in a Class 3A, Area 8 contest Jan. 8.
Charlie Simpson led Indian Springs (8-5 overall, 2-2 in Class 3A, Area 8 ) with 19 points.
Stephen Himic added 13 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
Westminster defeats Appalachian
The Westminster School at Oak Mountain boys’ basketball team defeated Appalachian 43-42 on Jan. 8.
Adam Gurley led the Knights (9-8) with 21 points.
Jeffrey Stanford added 14 points in the victory.
Cornerstone Christian falls to Autauga Academy
The Cornerstone Christian School boys’ basketball team fell to Autauga Academy 61-57 on Jan. 8.
Kendall Moore led the Chargers (2-7) with 23 points. Moore also grabbed 11 rebounds.
Hagan Joiner added 13 points and seven rebounds. Chase Payne contributed 10 points and five rebounds.
