COLUMBIANA — The fourth year of Columbiana’s Friday night Music on Main is well under way.

Hundreds converged on Main Street here on Friday, June 16, graduates from all classes of Shelby County High School for the all-class reunion, who enjoyed visiting with each other and listening to the music of band, “Tupelo Honey.”

“We had a great turnout,” said Susan Conn, who owns Main Street Florist and is on the board of the Columbiana Merchants and Professionals Association. The Merchants and Professionals Association sponsors Music on Main, with the help of the South Shelby Chamber of Commerce and the City of Columbiana, which provides security.

Conn has led the Music on Main effort all four of its years. Conn also leads the popular Columbiana Monster Walk, as well as the decorating of the city’s Christmas tree.

“It’s a great time. It has been growing every year and now we have people coming from all over to hear the music,” she said. “Bring a cooler and a chair and enjoy yourself.”

Hot dogs, chips and drinks are available for purchase from vendors and Kona Ice sells ice cream and other treats at Music on Main.

Music begins at 7 p.m. and typically ends about 9 p.m., Conn said.

This Friday, June 22, music lovers will be treated to the tunes of Elvis when Mississippi’s Bill Brooks performs.

Others scheduled to perform include:

• June 29, Liberty Day celebration.

• July 6, no music planned because of the Fourth of July holiday.

• July 13, “Shinbone,” a bluegrass band that includes Columbiana city policeman David Alexander.

• July 20, “Last Chance” country music band.

• July 27, “Vinyl,” which plays a variety of music.

• Aug. 3, “Back in Time,” an a cappela oldies group.

• Aug. 10, Austin Foster, Gospel night.

• Aug. 17, band yet to be determined.

• Aug. 24, “Tupelo Honey.”

• Aug. 31, “Randy Glenn,” country band.
