Recently Evangel Christian School was given a much needed and appreciated gift as they received a land donation for athletic facilities.
The donated land, previously owned by baseball training facility Bases Loaded in Alabaster, is 15 acres and includes a 20,000 square foot multi-purpose building along with four lighted ball fields.
The land is only seven miles from Evangel Christian School’s campus. The Evangel Schools Foundation, which helps benefit both the Evangel Christian School and Evangel Classical Christian School, is planning on closing on the land in mid-July.
Bill Snuggs, administrator of Evangel Christian School, said the donation is, “just an answer to our prayers, and has been a vision for our school since its founding in 2004.”
Snuggs thanked the Evangel Schools Foundation for its years of hard work in trying to acquire such a needed facility, saying the entire school is just “extremely grateful.”
After closing on the property in July, the school will start making changes right away to be able to use the facilities this coming school year.
The property already has softball and baseball fields ready to go with lights, but the rest of the property will be renovated, Snuggs said.
“We are making plans to convert an area for volleyball in the fall, as well as use that for basketball later on,” Snuggs said.
Snuggs also said added space for extracurriculars and clubs are in the renovation plans.
