High school basketball roundup: Vincent girls remain unbeaten in area play

The Vincent High School girls’ basketball team remained undefeated in Class 2A, Area 10 action Dec. 14 following a 47-26 win over Holy Family.

Brooklyn Jones led the Yellow Jackets (4-7 overall, 3-0 in Class 2A, Area 10) with 21 points.

Kiara Cohill contributed 14 points and three assists in the victory.

Oak Mountain defeats Clay-Chalkville

The Oak Mountain High School girls’ basketball team picked up a 45-35 win over Clay-Chalkville on Dec. 14.

Lay Watts and Mackenzie Garmany led the Eagles (9-2) with 10 points each.

Shelby County picks up area win over Sylacauga

The Shelby County High School girls’ basketball team picked up an 81-69 win over Sylacauga in a Class 5A, Area 7 contest Dec. 14.

Aulicia Nunn led the Wildcats (9-1 overall, 2-1 in Class 5A, Area 7) with 34 points.

Alysia Perkins added 24 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Alexis Lewis contributed 13 points and seven boards.

Calera falls to Tarrant in area contest

The Calera High School girls’ basketball team fell to Tarrant 45-22 in a Class 4A, Area 8 contest Dec. 14.

Jennifer Hobby led the Eagles (0-5 overall, 0-2 in Class 4A, Area 8 ) with 13 points.

Jocelyn Davis contributed five points.

Montevallo falls to Greensboro in area contest

The Montevallo High School girls’ basketball team dropped a Class 3A, Area 7 contest following a 46-27 loss to Greensboro.

Amber Cardwell led the Bulldogs (4-3 overall, 0-1 in Class 3A, Area 7) with 17 points. Cardwell also grabbed a team-high 15 rebounds.

Indian Springs falls to Leeds in area game

The Indian Springs School girls’ basketball team fell to Leeds 59-39 in a Class 3A, Area 9 contest Dec. 14.

Andrea Mayo led Indian Springs (4-6 overall, 0-1 in Class 3A, Area 9) with 23 points.

Kingwood Christian falls to East Memorial

The Kingwood Christian School girls’ basketball team fell 44-41 to East Memorial Christian on Dec. 14.

Whitney Gillespie, who finished 5-of-9 from 3-point range, led the Lions (3-8) with 20 points. Gillespie also grabbed 11 rebounds.

Casey Whitmer added eight points and a team-high 14 rebounds.

Hope Christian defeats T.H.E.

The Hope Christian School girls’ basketball team picked up a 36-27 win over the Tuscaloosa Home Educators in an Alabama Christian Sports Conference game Dec. 14.

Christina Jones led the Eagles (5-2 overall, 2-1 in ACSC)with 11 points.

Davina Drew added nine points and four steals. Hannah Rettig, Karlee Tate and Erin Douglas chipped in four points each. Rettig grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

Oak Mountain tops Clay-Chalkville

The Oak Mountain High School boys’ basketball team recorded a 44-34 win over Clay-Chalkville in high school basketball action Dec. 14.

Garrett Cosgrove led the Eagles (6-4) with 18 points.

Colton McGriff contributed 12 points and a team-high 15 rebounds.

Calera defeats Tarrant in area contest

The Calera High School boys’ basketball team defeated Tarrant 79-54 in a Class 4A, Area 8 contest Dec. 14.

Deondre Haynes led the Eagles (9-1 overall, 2-0 in Class 4A, Area 8 ) with 19 points.

Ronnie Clark added 16 points. Titus Adams chipped in 15 points.

Indian Springs drops area contest against Leeds

The Indian Springs School boys’ basketball team fell to Leeds 51-48 in a Class 3A, Area 9 contest Dec. 14.

Hart Wilson led Indian Springs (6-5 overall, 0-1 in Class 3A, Area 9) with 18 points.

Vincent falls to Holy Family in area contest

The Vincent High School boys’ basketball team dropped its first Class 2A, Area 10 contest of the season Dec. 14 following a 54-48 loss to Holy Family.

Bruce Hamilton led the Yellow Jackets (8-3 overall, 2-1 in Class 2A, Area 10) with 19 points. Hamilton also grabbed nine rebounds.

Ben McKinney added 12 points, five rebounds and four steals. Keyon Wallace contributed eight points and four blocked shots.

Kingwood Christian defeats East Memorial

The Kingwood Christian School boys’ basketball team defeated East Memorial Christian 51-35 on Dec. 14.

Jordan Myers led the Lions (8-4) with 15 points.

Daniel Fillingim contributed 12 points in the victory.

Hope Christian falls to T.H.E.

The Hope Christian School boys’ basketball team fell to the Tuscaloosa Home Educators 75-39 in an Alabama Christian Sports Conference game Dec. 14.

Pete Thomason led the Eagles (3-5 overall, 2-4 in ACSC) with 12 points. Thomason also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

Terrence Moore contributed 11 points and four rebounds. Seth Burnham chipped in seven points and six boards.

Caleb Douglas finished with four points, five rebounds and three steals.
