MONTEVALLO – The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a first-degree rape reported in the 900 block of Shelby County 10 in Montevallo.

According to the sheriff’s office report, the rape involves child exploitation from January 2000 to November 2011.

Administration Sgt. Russell Bedsole said the Shelby County Department of Human Resources is involved in the case. He said investigators are looking into the validity of the claim, as the investigation is in its beginning stages.

“It may be a little bit of time before we have any charges while we’re trying to sort out the details,” Bedsole said.

The sheriff’s department may release additional information at a future date, as the investigation is ongoing. As of June 5, no arrests had been made related to the alleged incident.
