MONTEVALLO – An adult may have drowned off Shelby County 17 in Montevallo May 29.

At approximately 11:50 a.m., Shelby County 911 received a call of a possible adult drowning in the 1500 block of Shelby County 17 in the Montevallo area, according to a release from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies responded, along with Montevallo Fire Department, in an attempt to locate the victim. Additional assistance was also requested from the City of Calera Dive Team, and at approximately 2:30 p.m., dive team personnel are on scene attempting to locate the possible drowning victim, the release stated.
