Montevallo volleyball program adds four recruits

University of Montevallo volleyball coach Katie O’Brien announced the signing of four recruits for the 2012 season.
Carissa Bell, Jessica Falletta, Rebekah Phelps and Anna Quinn will be a part of O’Brien’s team in her fifth season at the helm.
Bell will be joining the Falcons as a freshman from Woodstock, Ga. Bell is a 5-foot-9 libero/defensive specialist who prepped at Woodstock High School. She also competes on the club level for Atlanta Juniors Volleyball Club. She was named All-County her senior year and was a three-time All-County Honorable Mention recipient as well. She was named All-Area Honorable Mention all four years at Woodstock.
Bell was a four-year varsity letter winner and led her team to a 37-16 record as a senior. Her team advanced to the State Playoffs her junior and senior seasons including finishing second in the Area in 2010. She was the team captain as a senior and co-captain as a sophomore and junior. As a junior and senior she led the team in ace percentage and dig percentage.
Falletta hails from Hoschton, Ga. and will join the Falcons as a freshman out of Buford High School. Falletta is a 5-foot-6 libero/defensive specialist who played club volleyball at Prolink Volleyball Club as well as A5 Volleyball Club where she was coached by Katie Johnson, a former Montevallo player and Thompson High School graduate.
While at Buford, Falletta was named All-Area as a senior. Her team advanced to the Sweet Sixteen where they fell to the eventual State Champion. It was the farthest Buford has advanced in program history. She has played both outside hitter and libero/defensive specialist at both the club and high school levels.
Phelps will join the Falcons as a freshman from Huntsville High School in Huntsville. Phelps is a 6-foot-1 middle/right-side hitter. She was a four-year starter at Huntsville High School, where she was part of three Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A state championships. She was named All-State as a senior as well as to the State Championship All-Tournament Team. She was named Second Team All-State as a junior and All-State Honorable Mention as a sophomore and freshman.
Phelps was selected to play in the North/South All-Star game as a senior and was named to the Huntsville Times Elite Team. She was a two-time All-Area selection and was named All-City as a junior. She was named the team’s Best Offensive Player in 2011, received the Coaches Award in 2012 and was Most Improved in 2008. She played in every varsity match in her four-year career. For club she competed for Alabama Elite. She took part in the USA Volleyball Junior Olympics twice finishing as high as fifth. Her team also participated in the AAU Championships twice.
Quinn will join the Falcons as a freshman out of Hoover High School in Hoover. She is a 5-foot-10 outside hitter who played club for Atlanta Juniors Volleyball Club. Quinn advanced to the Area Tournament this past season, the Region Tournament as a junior and made it to the Sweet Sixteen as a sophomore. While at Atlanta Juniors, Quinn served as the team captain for two seasons.
