GIRLS
The Briarwood Christian School girls’ basketball team defeated host Pelham 51-34 in the Panthers’ Thanksgiving tournament Nov. 23.
Anna Handlin led the Lions (4-3) with 15 points.
Meredith Botes added 14 points.
Erin Whitman led Pelham (0-2) with 17 points.
Warriors fall to Talladega
The Thompson High School girls’ basketball team fell to Talladega, 45-25, in the Pelham Thanksgiving tournament Nov. 23.
KaDeisha Stowes led the Warriors (3-2) with seven points.
Oak Mountain defeats Jackson-Olin
The Oak Mountain High School girls’ basketball team defeated visiting Jackson-Olin 44-19 in a home contest Nov. 23.
Lay Watts led the Eagles (6-0) with 23 points. Watts also grabbed nine rebounds and recorded three steals.
Julia Ferguson added 12 points and four rebounds.
Vincent falls to Talladega-County Central in tournament
The Vincent High School girls’ basketball team fell to Talladega County-Central in its opener Nov. 24 at the Lincoln Thanksgiving tournament.
Kiara Cohill and Pamala Mann led the Yellow Jackets (1-2) with 13 points each. Mann also grabbed 13 rebounds.
Jessica Posey added six points.
Evangel Christian defeats Evangel Family
The Evangel Christian School girls’ basketball team picked up a 52-36 win over Evangel Family Christian of Montgomery in an Alabama Christian Sports Conference contest Nov. 23.
Abby Letson led the Lightning (3-0 overall, 2-0 in ACSC) with 27 points, including 20 points in the second half. Letson also grabbed 12 rebounds and finished with four steals.
Rainey Ketcham added 16 points, four steals and five assists in the victory. Katherine Stockman pulled down 14 rebounds.
BOYS
Thompson edges Chelsea in Thanksgiving tournament
The Thompson High School boys’ basketball team edged host Chelsea 61-56 in the semifinals of the Hornets’ Thanksgiving tournament Nov. 23.
Demarcus Threatt led the Warriors (4-0) with 22 points.
Jaylon Jones added 17 points, eight rebounds and five steals.
D.D. Washington led Chelsea (2-1) with 18 points.
Jake Ganus added 16 points.
The Warriors will face Vincent, which defeated Briarwood Christian in the semifinals, in the championship game Nov. 24 at 6 p.m.
Vincent tops Briarwood Christian
The Vincent High School boys’ basketball team earned a spot in the Chelsea Thanksgiving tournament championship game following a 45-42 win over Briarwood Christian in the semifinals Nov. 23.
Anterio Rogers led Vincent (4-0) with 14 points.
Bruce Hamilton added nine points. Keyon Wallace and Ben McKinney chipped in eight points each.
Jason Laatsch led Briarwood Christian (3-1) with 10 points.
Justin Bice added nine points. Luke Collins chipped in eight points and Raymond Woods contributed seven points.
Pelham falls to John Carroll
The Pelham High School boys’ basketball team fell to John Carroll Catholic, 66-63, in the Chelsea Thanksgiving tournament Nov. 23.
Alec Rash led Pelham (0-3) with 17 points.
Xavier Lacey added 16 points.
Oak Mountain falls to Mountain Brook in tournament
The Oak Mountain High School boys’ basketball team fell to Mountain Brook, 46-43, in the Hewitt-Trussville Thanksgiving tournament Nov. 23.
Heath Quinn led the Eagles (3-2) with 15 points in the loss.
Evangel Christian defeats Evangel Family
The Evangel Christian School boys’ basketball team defeated Evangel Family Christian of Montgomery 71-63 in an Alabama Christian Sports Conference game Nov. 23.
DaJon Townson led the Lightning (2-0) with 36 points.
Andrew Frazier added 16 points. Marcus Johnson led the Lightning with 10 rebounds.
