MONTEVALLO — Domestic violence charges were dropped against former University of Montevallo campus police chief, Lynda “Shelley” Tyree.
Tyree was arrested by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department and booked into the county jail on Oct. 26, 2010 on domestic violence charges in the third degree. She was released the following day.
Charges against Tyree were dismissed on May 11, 2012, as long as she agreed to have no contact with the victim, otherwise obey the law and pay court costs, according to Jill Smitherman, Shelby County Circuit Court supervisor.
Tyree resigned as police chief on Nov. 8, 2010, according to earlier reports.
Tyree was named chief of police in December 2008 and had been employed at the university since 2000, beginning her career as a patrol officer.
