BOYS
The Chelsea High School boys’ basketball team defeated Tuscaloosa County 48-42 in the opening game of the Hornets’ Thanksgiving tournament Nov. 22.
Dantavius Washington led Chelsea (2-0) with 12 points. Washington also grabbed 10 rebounds.
Jake Ganus added nine points in the victory.
Vincent tops Pelham
The Vincent High School boys’ basketball team defeated Pelham 56-50 in the opening round of the Chelsea Thanksgiving tournament Nov. 22.
Keyon Wallace and Bruce Hamilton led the Yellow Jackets (3-0) with 18 points each.
Hamilton also grabbed 12 rebounds. Anterio Rogers chipped in 11 points.
Xavier Lacey led Pelham (0-2) with 19 points. Alec Rash added 10 points.
Thompson edges Hueytown
The Thompson High School boys’ basketball team edged Hueytown 46-44 in its opening game in the Chelsea Thanksgiving tournament Nov. 22.
Demarcus Threatt led the Warriors (3-0) with 14 points.
Jaylon Jones added 10 points.
Briarwood Christian defeats John Carroll
The Briarwood Christian School boys’ basketball team opened the Chelsea Thanksgiving tournament Nov. 22 with a 69-50 win over John Carroll Catholic.
Jason Laatsch led the Lions (3-0) with 24 points.
Josh Laatsch and Luke Collins added 11 points each. Collins dished out eight assists.
Oak Mountain falls to host Hewitt-Trussville in tournament
The Oak Mountain High School boys’ basketball team fell to host Hewitt-Trussville 49-43 in the Huskies’ Thanksgiving tournament semifinals Nov. 22.
Colton McGriff led the Eagles (3-1) with 13 points.
Garrett Cosgrove added 12 points.
Shelby County defeats Bibb County
The Shelby County High School boys’ basketball team defeated visiting Bibb County 76-46 in the Wildcats’ first home game of the season Nov. 22.
Tyler Madison led the Wildcats (2-0) with 15 points.
Denzel Williams, Tre Cohill and Ty Lollar added 12 points each. Lollar also contributed 10 assists and five steals.
Coosa Valley drops season opener to Flint Hill
The Coosa Valley Academy boys’ basketball team dropped its season opener Nov. 22 to Flint Hill Christian, 68-46.
Sam Bullard led the Rebels (0-1) with 15 points.
John Bullen added 11 points.

Chelsea drops tournament opener to Mountain Brook
The Chelsea High School girls’ basketball team fell to host Mountain Brook 84-18 in its opening game in the Spartans’ Thanksgiving tournament Nov. 22.
Wando Anwah led the Hornets (0-2) with four points.
Shelby County defeats Bibb County in home opener
The Shelby County High School girls’ basketball team remained undefeated with a 68-21 win over visiting Bibb County in the Wildcats’ home opener Nov. 22.
Alysia Perkins led Shelby County (4-0) with 16 points.
Aulicia Nunn added 15 points. Ashley Mizzell contributed nine points and Alexis Lewis chipped in eight points.
Montevallo defeats Hueytown
The Montevallo High School girls’ basketball team defeated Hueytown 67-51 on the road Nov. 22.
Amber Cardwell led the Bulldogs (2-0) with 33 points and 25 rebounds. Cardwell, who shot 14-of-26 from the floor, surpassed the 1,000 career point mark in the contest.
Cardwell will be honored for the career milestone prior to tip off before the Bulldogs’ face Jemison in a home game Nov. 30.
Kayla Cunningham and Mallory Anderson added eight points each.
Coosa Valley wins season opener against Flint Hill
The Coosa Valley Academy girls’ basketball team opened its season Nov. 22 with a 62-41 win over Flint Hill Christian.
Lauren Archer led the Rebels (1-0) with 23 points.
Kaylan Rich and Amelia Ripley added 13 points each. Archer and Rich grabbed 11 rebounds each. Ripley finished with four assists.
Jordan Smiley chipped in seven points, nine rebounds and six steals.
