Hope Christian splits games in tournament

The Hope Christian School baseball team split a pair of games April 26 in the Alabama Christian Sports Conference tournament.

The Eagles defeated the Tuscaloosa Home Educators 10-8.

Chandler Donegan led Hope Christian offensively as he finished 3-for-4 at the plate with a double. Donegan drove in three runs in the victory.

Douglas Skinner, who drove in one run and scored one run, finished 1-for-2 at the plate with a double. Jesse Shoop, who drove in one run and scored one run, went 1-for-3 at the plate.

Matthew Hyde finished 1-for-3 at the plate. Kaleb Arnold, who drove in one run and scored three runs, went 1-for-2 at the plate. Philip Clark, who drove in one run and scored one run, finished 1-for-3 at the plate.

Andrew Martin scored two runs, while Daniel Clark scored one run. Brandon Hawkins drove in one run in the win.

Hyde earned the win on the mound after giving up three unearned runs on four hits in three innings.

Bill Etheredge allowed three earned runs on two hits with two walks in three innings. Skinner gave up two runs, including one earned run, on one hit with one strikeout and three walks in one inning in relief.

Hope Christian fell to Evangel Family Christian 17-2.

Hawkins led the Eagles offensively as he finished 1-for-2 at the plate and scored one run.

Shoop finished 1-for-3 at the plate. Dillon Thompson and Skinner each finished 1-for-2 at the plate. Isaiah Duncan scored one run.

Skinner took the loss on the mound after giving up five runs, including one earned run, on five hits with one walk in 1 1/3 innings.
