Shelby County wrestlers edged by Leeds and St. Clair County

Four Shelby County High School wrestlers each picked up two wins Dec. 17 as the Wildcats were edged by Leeds and St. Clair County in a home dual meet.
Nathan Herrington, Tommy Eremus, Jeffrey Hughes and Josh Reid each recorded two wins in the meet. Herrington won both of his matches by pin.
Hughes and Reid each won one match by pin and one by forfeit. Eremus won by forfeit in both matches.
Austin Shelton pinned his opponent, while Donnie Brechin and Jacob Oliver won by forfeit as the Wildcats fell 43-42 to Leeds.
Avery Munning pinned his opponent and Nathan Sawyer won by forfeit as Shelby County lost 54-30 to St. Clair County.
Oak Mountain tops Sparkman, Homewood
Eight Oak Mountain wrestlers won two matches each as the Eagles defeated Sparkman and Homewood.
Jesse Smith, Jake Smith, Jacob Parker, Reid Bishop, Michael Bell, Victor Kimbrough, Jared Woodall and Justin Woodall each picked up two wins Dec. 17.
Jesse Smith, Reid Bishop, Michael Bell, Victor Kimbrough, Jared Woodall and Justin Woodall each won both of their matches by pin.
Jake Smith pinned his Homewood opponent and picked up a 15-5 major decision against his Sparkman foe. Jacob Parker earned a pin in the win over Sparkman and picked up a 17-1 technical fall over his Homewood opponent.
Evan Fortson, Adam Hicks, Adam Beaton and Whit Whitfield each won by pin in Oak Mountain’s 70-12 win over Sparkman.
Josh Greer pinned his opponent in the Eagles’ 53-15 win over Homewood.
