The Thompson High School softball team defeated Hoover 9-3 in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A, Area 10 contest April 24.

Sara Beth Watkins led the Warriors offensively as she finished 3-for-4 at the plate. Watkins drove in one run and scored one run in the victory.

Taylor Powell, who drove in three runs and scored one run, finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a double. Rachel Rigney, who drove in one run and scored one run, went 1-for-2 at the plate.

Powell earned the win in the circle after giving up three runs, including two earned runs, on two hits with nine strikeouts and two walks in a complete-game victory.
