The University of Montevallo women’s golf team wrapped up its 2011-2012 season with a sixth-place finish at the 2012 Peach Belt Conference championship tournament April 10.

Montevallo was led by freshman Megan Clyne, who placed eighth overall with a two-round score of 154.

The Falcons finished ahead of North Georgia College and State University, while Armstrong Atlantic State University won the event with a score of 615.

The Falcons shot a team score of 646, which was 14 strokes ahead of seventh place and seven strokes behind fifth place.

Freshman Ashlee Beck was second for the Falcons and tied for 14th overall with a score of 159. Senior Emma Breen was four shots back with a 163 and tied for 20th overall.

Sophomore Hilary Shaner shot a 172 and placed 31st, while sophomore Tracey Marshall finished in 32nd with a score of 173.

Clyne shot the Falcons’ lowest round of the tournament with an even par 72 in the second round. Beck and Breen each shot 78 to finish tied for the team’s second for lowest round of the tournament.

The Montevallo men’s golf team wrapped up its season with a 10th-place finish at the Peach Belt Conference championship tournament April 10.

The Falcons were led by junior Andrew Lowry, who shot a three-round score of 228 to finish 31st overall.

The Falcons finished ahead of Lander University, while UNC-Pembroke and USC-Aiken tied for the lead with team scores of 872. UNC-Pembroke won the event on the first playoff hole.

Freshman Juan Noce finished second for the Falcons and tied for 35th overall with a score of 230. Senior Aaron Ebert ended his career with a 236 good for a tie for 46th.

Junior Austin Murphey shot a 241 and finished 51st overall, while freshman Andrew Morales ended the tournament with a 247, good for 53rd overall.

Lowry shot the lowest round of the tournament for the Falcons with a 74 in the opening round. Three others shot 76 in the first round to tie for the team’s second lowest round of the tournament.
