The Pelham High School girls’ track and field team captured the Shelby County girls’ track and field championship April 9.

The Panthers racked up 202 points, which edged second-place Thompson by 10 points. Caitland Smith led Pelham with four individual titles in the championship meet.

Westminster School at Oak Mountain came in third with 80 points. Briarwood Christian finished fourth with 78 points. Oak Mountain rounded out the top five with 66 points.

Calera came in sixth with 18 points. Montevallo finished seventh with 15 points. Chelsea came in eighth with eight points.

Caitland Smith captured the girls’ 100-meter dash title with her time of 12.20 seconds. Smith also won the girls’ 200-meter dash title with her time of 25.23 seconds.

Katie Brooks Boone of Westminster claimed the girls’ 400-meter dash title with her time of 58.29 seconds. Erika Kulp of Thompson captured the girls’ 800-meter run title with her time of 2:24.98.

Anna Puckett of Thompson won the girls’ 1,600-meter run title with her time of 5:47.90. Mary Grace Strozier of Pelham claimed the girls’ 3,200-meter run title with her time of 11:57.55.

Lacey Marcus of Thompson captured the girls’ 100-meter hurdles title with her time of 15.50 seconds. Boone won the girls’ 300-meter title with her time of 46.90 seconds.

Briarwood Christian claimed the girls’ 400-meter relay title with a time of 50.98 seconds. Pelham won the girls’ 1,600-meter relay title with a time of 4:18.49.

Oak Mountain captured the girls’ 3,200-meter relay title with a time of 10:25.82.

Taylor Davis of Pelham claimed the girls’ high jump title with a leap of 4 feet, 10 inches. Brittany Barker of Pelham won the girls’ pole vault title with a leap of six feet.

Smith won the girls’ long jump title with a leap of 16 feet, 4 inches. Smith also won the girls’ triple jump title with a leap of 36 feet.

Holli Brown of Thompson captured the girls’ shot put title with a toss of 32 feet, 4.75 inches. Brown also won the girls’ discus throw title with a toss of 93 feet, 2 inches.

Kaitlin West of Oak Mountain claimed the girls’ javelin throw title with her toss of 91 feet, 8 inches.
