The Thompson High School boys’ track and field team captured the Shelby County boys’ track and field championship April 9.

The Warriors racked up 199.5 points, which edged second-place finisher Oak Mountain by 22 points.

Pelham came in third with 95 points. Briarwood Christian finished fourth with 76 points, while Westminster School at Oak Mountain rounded out the top five with 42 points.

Calera came in sixth with 38 points. Chelsea finished seventh with 32 points. Shelby County came in eighth with 15 points, while Montevallo finished ninth with six points.

Jaalen Jones of Thompson won the boys’ 100-meter dash title with his time of 10.83 seconds. Jakaryus Redwine of Oak Mountain claimed the boys’ 200-meter dash title with a time of 21.69 seconds.

Redwine also captured the boys’ 400-meter dash title with a time of 49.89 seconds. Myles Cherry of Pelham won the boys’ 800-meter run title with his time of 2:04.85.

Will Hamaker of Oak Montain claimed the boys’ 1,600-meter run title with a time of 4:41.40. Hamaker also captured the boys’ 3,200-meter run title with a time of 10:23.40.

Kalan Reed of Briarwood Christian won the boys’ 110-meter hurdles title with his time of 14.49 seconds. Reed also captured the boys’ 300-meter hurdles title with his time of 38.95 seconds.

Pelham claimed the boys’ 400-meter relay title with a time of 44.64 seconds. Thompson captured the boys’ 1,600-meter relay title with a time of 3:34.09.

Oak Mountain won the boys’ 3,200-meter relay title with a time of 8:39.44.

Brandon Farrish of Thompson claimed the boys’ high jump title with a leap of 6 feet, 5 inches. Sam Whorton of Briarwood Christian captured the boys’ pole vault title with a leap of 13 feet.

Avery Hale of Thompson won the boys’ long jump title with his leap of 21 feet, 1 inch. Hale also captured the boys’ triple jump title with his leap of 41 feet, 8 inches.

Daryl Foster of Chelsea claimed the boys’ shot put title with his toss of 45 feet, 7.25 inches. Anders Allen of Oak Mountain won the boys’ discus throw title with his toss of 112 feet, 2 inches.

Will Edwards of Briarwood Christian captured the boys’ javelin throw title with his toss of 151 feet, 8 inches.
