Hornets defeat Oak Mountain

The Chelsea High School baseball team defeated Oak Mountain 10-2 in high school baseball action April 5.
The Hornets scored first, plating one run in the top of the first inning. Oak Mountain answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Chelsea’s offense came to life as they pounded out six runs in the top of the second inning and three more runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Chelsea was led offensively by Alex Dean, who was 3-for-5 at the plate with three singles. Dean drove in one run in the victory.
Keelan Gregg was 2-for-2 at the plate and drove in two runs. Eli Bashour went 2-for-4 at the plate and drove in two runs. Austin Dean was 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run. Davis Shoemaker and Nathan Roddy added one hit each and drove in two runs each. Tripp Hobbs and Brody Holder finished with one hit each in the win.
Hobbs picked up the win on the mound for the Hornets to push his record to 8-1 this season. Hobbs pitched six innings, giving up two runs on three hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
Alex Dean, who pitched the final inning, gave up just one hit and recorded one strikeout in one inning in relief.
Richard Greene led Oak Mountain offensively as he finished 1-for-3 at the plate with a double. Greene drove in one run.
Jay Thompson finished 2-for-3 at the plate and scored one run. David Dahl went 1-for-2 at the plate and scored one run.
Wesley Nail took the loss on the mound after giving up seven runs, including five earned runs, on eight hits with two strikeouts in one inning.
