Dear Editor,
The March 3 Central Alabama Antique and Appraisal Market held at Dr. Stancil Handley’s barn and sponsored by the Friends of the Columbiana Library was a huge success!
It was truly a win-win-win event. For hundreds of folks it was a win, for they enjoyed a fun day having their prize possessions appraised, shopping among the variety of antique dealers, eating and listening to music provided by 97.7 The Peach and DJ Randy Glen.
The Columbiana Library wins, as the proceeds will be used to help fund adult and children programs, purchase books and media materials and expand programs.
The Columbiana community also wins.
Even though the sun didn’t shine that day, Columbiana did! The event drew folks from all over central Alabama, many here for the first time, who were favorably impressed with Columbiana and will likely return.
Of course the Friends wouldn’t have been successful without the support and help of the city of Columbiana, the Shelby County Administration, and a long list of sponsors, volunteers, antique dealers, appraisers and vendors.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the first Friends of the Columbiana Library Central Alabama Antique and Appraisal Market a wonderful community event.
Join us next year for our second market!
Ann Sauers
