Panthers top Dothan in tournament

The Pelham High School softball team defeated Dothan 1-0 in the Vestavia Hills tournament March 31 at Liberty Park.
Caitlyn Sapp led the Panthers as she finished 1-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run.
Kristian Foster finished 1-for-3 at the plate and scored one run. Whitney Gillespie finished 1-for-3 at the plate. Madi Walker, Becky Fox and Emily Spain each finished 1-for-2 at the plate.
Gillespie earned the win in the circle after giving up just one hit with seven strikeouts and three walks in a complete-game victory.
Pelham fell to Hewitt-Trussville 5-4 in the tournament.
Foster finished 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in one run.
Walker, who drove in one run and scored two runs, went 2-for-3 at the plate. Jennifer Davis went 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run. Gillespie finished 2-for-4 at the plate.
Mary Morgan Dramer finished 1-for-4 at the plate. Erin Whitman and Lindsey Pyle each went 1-for-4 at the plate and scored one run each.
Davis took the loss after giving up three earned runs on nine hits with four strikeouts and two walks in five innings in relief.
Fox allowed two runs, including one earned run, on one hit with one strikeout and three walks in two innings.
Pelham fell to Winfield 2-1 in extra innings in the tournament.
Dramer finished 2-for-4 at the plate.
Foster went 1-for-3 at the plate and scored one run. Sapp went 1-for-3 at the plate. Gillespie finished 1-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run. Walker finished 1-for-2 at the plate.
Emily Spain took the loss after giving up two runs, including one earned run, on four hits with seven strikeouts in an eight-inning complete-game victory.
