The Spain Park High School boys’ tennis team defeated Briarwood Christian 8-1, while the Lions’ girls’ tennis team edged the Jaguars 5-4 in high school tennis action March 26.

Spain Park won all six singles’ matches and two of the three doubles’ matches in the boys’ match.

Jack Nicholas of Spain Park defeated Griffin Russell of Briarwood Christian 8-2 in the No. 1 singles’ match. Will Hartsock of Spain Park defeated Russell Hancock of Briarwood Christian 8-6 in the No. 2 singles’ match.

Brit Sovic of Spain Park defeated Philip Taylor of Briarwood Christian 8-3 in the No. 1 singles’ match. Whalen Merrill of Spain Park defeated Daniel Kuyk of Briarwood Christian 8-2 in the No. 4 singles’ match.

Sam Lorino of Spain Park defeated Lukas Castellanos of Briarwood Christian 8-2 in the No. 5 singles’ match. Connor Rains of Spain Park defeated Connor Brewton of Briarwood Christian 8-2 in the No. 6 singles’ match.

Russell and Hancock defeated Nicholas and Hartsock 10-8 in the No. 1 doubles’ match. Sovic and Merrill defeated Taylor and Kuyk 10-2 in the No. 2 doubles’ match.

Lorino and Rains defeated Castellanos and Brewton 10-2 in the No. 3 doubles’ match.

GIRLS

Briarwood Christian won three singles’ matches and two doubles’ matches in the girls’ match.

Olivia Cissell of Spain Park defeated Mary Judson Tarrence of Briarwood Christian 8-3 in the No. 1 singles’ match. Lauren Schroeder of Spain Park defeated Olivia Odom of Briarwood Christian 8-6 in the No. 2 singles’ match.

Madison Luther of Spain Park defeated Ann Ellison Tarrence of Briarwood Christian 8-2 in the No. 3 singles’ match. Lauren Bowers of Briarwood Christian defeated Tierney Sovic of Spain Park 8-6 in the No. 4 singles’ match.

Sellers Mulvaney of Briarwood Christian defeated Kenley Yarbrough of Spain Park 8-6 in the No. 5 singles’ match. Ashton Henderson of Briarwood Christian defeated Mirna Kanfani of Spain Park 8-6 in the No. 6 singles’ match.

Cissell and Schroeder defeated Mary Judson Tarrence and Ann Ellison Tarrence 10-4 in the No. 1 doubles’ match. Odom and Bowers defeated Luther and Sovic 10-5 in the No. 2 doubles’ match.

Kateleight Calloway and Frannie Ware of Briarwood Christian defeated Jillian Bridges and Yarbrough of Spain Park 10-6 in the No. 3 doubles’ match.
