Rebels win both games in doubleheader

The Coosa Valley Academy baseball team defeated Monroe Academy and Northside Methodist in a high school baseball doubleheader March 24.
The Rebels (14-5) defeated Monroe Academy 9-3 in its opening game.
Cody Wood led Coosa Valley at the plate as he finished with four hits and drove in three runs in the victory.
Stephen Cryer added two hits and drove in two runs. Hunter Winslett and Jake Carter also added two hits each.
Myles Varner finished with one hit and drove in two runs. Michael Mims and Preston Parker added one hit and drove in one run each. Allen Logan also had a hit.
Wood earned the win on the mound after giving up four hits with four strikeouts and a walk.
Coosa Valley topped Northside Methodist 2-1 in the second game.
Preston Parker recorded the lone hit in the victory after the Rebels scored one run on a passed ball and stole home on another occasion.
Carter earned the win on the mound after finishing with eight strikeouts and one walk without giving up an earned run.
