Chelsea Anglers win region tournament

The Chelsea Anglers, the Chelsea High School club bass fishing team, claimed the tournament championship March 10 in a Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association region tournament at Lake Eufaula.
Two boats from Chelsea finished in the top 10 at the tournament, which included 38 schools and a total of 120 boats.
Kaleb Appling, who fished without a partner in the tournament, finished in seventh place with his catch of 9.97 pounds. Zane Loveday and Tanner Lee came in one spot behind Appling after collectively reeling in 9.69 pounds of bass.
The Chelsea Anglers, who finished second overall in an ASABFA region tournament Feb. 25 at Lake Martin, includes 10 student anglers.
Senior Landon Lowery, junior Alex Boroughs, junior Tyler Boyle, freshman Tray Davis, freshman Hunter Preisendorfer, eighth-grader Zane Loveday, eighth-grader Randy Joiner, eighth-grader Kaleb Appling, eighth-grader Tanner Lee and eighth-grader Quintin Dorough make up the squad. Dean Ramey, Greg Loveday, Darrel Nix, Greg Joiner, Alex Davis and Arlin Appling serve as captains, with Loveday serving as the team’s head coach.
