CHELSEA – The Chelsea Kiwanis Club is holding its first St. Patrick’s Day Pancake Day March 17.
The breakfast, which will be held at Liberty Baptist Church in Chelsea, will take place from 7-11 a.m.
“It’s really a fundraiser. Pancake breakfasts are a big fundraising event for Kiwanis clubs nationally,” said Dale Neuendorf, vice president of Chelsea Kiwanis Club.
The majority of the proceeds raised will benefit the neonatal intensive care unit at Shelby Baptist Medical Center.
“We wanted to do something for children,” Neuendorf said. “That’s really Kiwanis’ mission. Kiwanis’ motto is ‘Changing the world one child at a time.’ Everything Kiwanis gives to is to help children.”
A small portion of the money will fund a college scholarship for a Chelsea Key Club member.
Tickets are $5 if purchased before March 17 and $6 at the door. Tickets are available at about 30 different Chelsea businesses, Neuendorf said.
The Chelsea Kiwanis Club meets every first and third Monday at noon at Liberty Baptist Church, which is located at 11050 Chelsea Road, Chelsea.
