The Montevallo High School Volleyball team hosted a “Think Pink” event during the Sept. 7 home match against Indian Springs. The game, which started at 5 p.m., featured a “Think Pink” theme to raise awareness of breast cancer and to raise money for the Side-Out Foundation, which helps fund cancer research and educational activities through a special program called the Dig Pink Volleyball Breast Cancer Awareness campaign.
The team collected donations to go towards cancer research funding. The MHS players wore pink jerseys and all fans were encouraged to wear something pink to promote cancer awareness.
The event also honored Katherine Brannon, a teacher from Montevallo Elementary School, who has battled cancer this year. Brannon acted as an honorary team captain at the event.
