Chelsea (3-2, 2-1 in Class 5A, Region 5) dropped a non-region contest against John Carroll, 21-7, on Sept. 24.
“We didn’t play good, and we didn’t finish drives,” Chelsea coach Wade Waldrop said.
The night was full of blunders for the Hornets, as John Carroll (3-2, 1-2 in Class 5A, Region 4) scored after blocking a field goal attempt and intercepted Jake Ganus three times.
The Hornets trailed by a touchdown at halftime after running back Julius McCall scored from 2 yards out to make the score 14-7.
However, the interceptions — all three came in the second half — and lack of execution were too much for Chelsea to overcome.
“(John Carroll) did a good job of not turning the ball over,” Waldrop said. “We just didn’t execute.”
Chelsea will return to Class 5A, Region 5 action Oct. 1 with a date at Pinson Valley.
