CALERA – Arrest warrants were filed against four Calera High School students Feb. 29 after two fights broke out at the school.

Calera High School administrators have responded to an incident that occurred on the school campus Thursday morning following another incident that had occurred in a neighborhood the previous day,” according to a release from Shelby County Schools spokesperson Cindy Warner.

According to Calera High School Principal Richard Bishop, a fight involving six students from CHS had occurred in the SouthPointe neighborhood on the afternoon of Feb. 29. The following day, two additional fights broke out at the school, resulting in arrest warrants for disorderly conduct being filed against four students.

School administrators also responded to numerous rumors that there was a weapon on campus. A search was conducted, and no weapons were found.

“I want to assure everyone that all precautions are being taken to ensure the safety of all students at Calera High School,” Bishop said in a statement from the Shelby County School System. “We are utilizing the resources of the Central Office to investigate rumors of any perceived threats.”
