VINCENT — Vincent citizens may soon see attractive additions to their town, according to councilmember Bridgette Jordan-Smith.

One of the city’s welcome signs on the Pell City side of town, which has been down for about two years due to vandalism, will be replaced with a new welcome sign.

Sign Graphics in Columbiana is making the sign, which should be put up later this year, Jordan-Smith said.

The sign at Vincent Municipal Park, which has fallen down and been reattached, is also in disrepair. Sign Graphics workers will soon look at the sign and give town officials an estimate on the cost of refurbishment, Jordan-Smith said.

“We’re just working on little things that will hopefully make the town look better,” she said. “You want to make your city look good, you want to improve the look of your town and make people feel better.”

The welcome sign cost $1,850, which came out of the town’s capital improvement funds.

Jordan-Smith said town officials are also hoping to soon apply for grants to improve Vincent’s sidewalks.
