INVERNESS — Hoover Police have arrested a Chelsea man for attempting to rob an Inverness pharmacy.
William Carl O’Shields, of Chelsea, attempted to rob the CVS Pharmacy at Inverness Corners at around 2:10 p.m. Sept. 14.
According to police, O’Shields demanded prescription medication from a pharmacy employee. When the employee declined, O’Shields said, “This is a robbery.”
O’Shields, who did not display a weapon, then left the store without receiving medication.
A Hoover Police officer, who had been dispatched to the call, saw O’Shields walking across the parking lot of the pharmacy. The officer blocked O’Shields from leaving in his vehicle and arrested him without incident.
Although he showed no weapon, O’Shields did have a pocket knife in his possession.
O’Shields is being held in the Hoover City Jail on $60,000 bond. He will be transferred to the Shelby County Jail.
