MONTEVALLO — Restored cars, oldies music and family fun will be in the spotlight Sept. 4 in Montevallo at the ninth annual Cars by the Creek Car Show.
The show will be held at Orr Park from 8 a.m-2 p.m. and is free for the whole family.
Steve Gilbert, one of the show’s organizers, said this year’s event will be better than ever before.
“This year is going to be bigger than it has been the last several years,” he said. “We have new children’s activities with video games and laser tag. We have something for everyone.”
The show will feature restored classic cars, muscle cars, pick-ups, hot rods and custom cars, Gilbert said.
At the end of the show, the “Best of Show” award and the “City’s Choice” award will be awarded to both a car and a truck.
While crowds peruse the cars on display, an oldies DJ will play hits from the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s.
The new children’s activities include Games 2 U Entertainment, a mobile gaming system that offers video games, dodge ball, laser tag and a giant hamster ball.
Food vendors will be on hand offering funnel cakes, cotton candy, hamburgers, hotdogs and shaved ice.
Gilbert encourages the whole community to join in the family fun.
“It’s a family event,” Gilbert said. “Everyone from 8 to 80 can appreciate cars and hot rods. Plus it’s just a pretty place. Orr Park is a great venue for a family outing.”
