VINCENT – The Vincent Town Council will hold a public hearing prior to the regular session of the town council on Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. The public hearing will be held at town hall in the courtroom.
The hearing is in regards to the redistricting of the town. All citizens are invited to attend and share comments.
According to the notice, the 2010 Census found that districts of the town are not in compliance with the guidelines of population set by the U.S. Justice Department.
Vincent has contracted Shelby County, who has the expertise and information to bring the districts into compliance with the guidelines of the Justice Department.
According to previous reports, the redistricting is a result of population expansion in the town.
“Vincent grew from 1,800 to almost 2,000,” said Eric Womack, senior planner for the Shelby County Department of Development Services.
