Helen Roberta Ingram Driggers, first of seven children born to Robert and Alice McLaughlin Ingram, passed away, Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 in Alabaster. She was 92. Born and raised in the Spring Creek community, Helen graduated from Montevallo High School in June of 1937. On Dec. 2, 1941, she married Julian Albert Driggers. For many years they traveled and worked together as Albert repaired and tuned pianos in private homes, churches and schools across Alabama. They made their home on Wooten Springs Road in Calera, and were long-time members of Calera Methodist Church. Blinded as a youth, Albert died in September 1994, never having been able to see his loving wife and partner of 53 years.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Elizabeth Goad and Martha Knowles; and a brother, Jack Ingram. She is survived by her sisters, Anne Hood and June Johnson; brother, Robert Ingram; sister-in-law, Pauline Ingram; many nieces and nephews; and faithful and loving friends, Kay and Anthony Crumley.
Visitation will be held at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel, Montevallo, Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at 10 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Scott Fowler officiating. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Rockcofuneralhomes.com.
