Tye Christopher Moore, who was extradited from Helena to Washington on child molestation and domestic violence charges late last year, was sentenced to 41 months of jail time Feb. 11.

Moore also received 36 months of probation following the jail time. He pled guilty to one count of second-degree child molestation Jan. 4.

Kitsap County (Wash.) Deputy Prosecutor Cami Lewis said Moore received 41 months because that was the sentencing limit.

“That’s the top of the range. That was the highest that the judge could go,” Lewis said.

She said if Moore had allowed the case to go to trial, he would have been subject to more charges of child molestation and much more jail time.

“I’m pleased with the fact that he got top of the range,” she said.

Moore was arrested Oct. 28 in Helena on a fugitive from justice warrant on charges of domestic violence in the second degree and unlawful sexual conduct with a child under the age of 12.

He was found after Port Orchard law enforcement officials saw a public notice for Moore’s marriage license on Shelbycountyreporter.com.

Before his arrest, Moore had been on the run from authorities for months, traveling through Texas and Oklahoma before settling in Helena.
