U.S. Marshals arrest unregistered Shelby County sex offender

The U.S. Marshals Service recently worked with Birmingham and Jefferson County law enforcement agencies to arrest a man previously convicted of sex charges in Shelby County.
Marshals, Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies, Birmingham Police and state probation officers arrested 33-year-old Bobby Ray Overton, of 1889 Dorroh Road in Birmingham, Feb. 19 on charges of probation violation related to theft charges in Jefferson County, failure to register as a sex offender and residing with children as a convicted sex offender.
Overton was convicted in Shelby County in 2003 of counts of sexual abuse and sodomy on two six-year-old girls, according to information on the Alabama Department of Public Safety’s Web site.
As of Feb. 23, Overton remained in the Jefferson County Jail on a $30,800 bond.
