The North Shelby area is experiencing a power outage right now, with a traffic slowdown due to the outage.
Around 4,500 people are currently without power in the Greystone area, according to Alabama Power spokesperson Keisa Sharpe.
Homes in Montevallo, Calera and Columbiana are also experiencing a power outage, with around 5,700 people in those areas affected.
Sharpe said no timetable has been set for the power to be restored, but it will hopefully be within an hour or two for Greystone residents.
Montevallo, Calera and Columbiana residents may have a longer wait, she said.
“It’s possible we’ll be working a little later into the evening to get those back on,” Sharpe said.
Capt. Jim Coker of the Hoover Police Department said power is out from Doug Baker Boulevard to the Inverness Parkway area. Power is also out on parts of Valleydale Road and Alabama 119.
“This is a Friday afternoon, and a power outage is definitely a significant slowdown for the traffic,” Coker said.
