Funeral service for James A. “Shorty” Frederick, age 73, of Brierfield, was held Saturday, Aug.16 at 2 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Eddie Hughes officiated. Burial followed at Ashby Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Frederick, who passed away Aug. 12, 2008, at his home, is survived by his daughters, Demeterice “Dempy” Payton and LaRue Frederick, both of Brierfield; son, Hartley Frederick of Auburn; sisters, Nettie Heaps (Jack) of Adamsville, Mildred Smitherman (Lindberg) of Bessemer, Jessie Mae Burnett (late Ted) of Brierfield and Lanice Chandler (Ray) of Hampstead, N.C.; brother, Jerry Frederick (Nancy) of Montevallo; and two grandchildren, Victoria Payton and Kimberly Payton.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Frederick, and sister, Eloise Vernon.
