Samuel L. Arledge Jr., age 68, a resident of Shelby, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010. Chapel service will be at noon Friday, June 11, 2010, at Bolton Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Miller officiating. Burial will follow in New Shelby Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, June 10, 2010, from 6-8 p.m. at Bolton Funeral Home.
Mr. Arledge served in the United States Army. He was an educator for 25 years, serving as principal of Shelby Elementary for 17 years.
Mr. Arledge is preceded in death by his father, Samuel L. Arledge.
Mr. Arledge is survived by his children, Melody Byrne (Scott), Samuel Arledge III (Marcela); grandchildren, Rebekah Arledge, Nate Byrne; mother, Violet Arledge; brother, Charles W. Arledge (Carole); nephew, Jason Arledge (Amanda), Dedra Arledge and many other family and friends.
